I ran for City Council in the fall of 2002, coming in 8th out of a field of 12 candidates, and earning 2,309 votes or about 13% of the vote (not bad for a first try). One of the projects that I'm still maintaining and updating from that period is a list of community organizations that influence public policy in Santa Cruz City and County (partisan, non-partisan political, and non-profit advocacy organizations).

NEW! I'm watching the epidemic of Severe Acute Respiratory Disease (SARS) with growing concern, and have decided to devote a webpage and a blog category exclusively to the topic. It's scary stuff.
