Should California secede from the union?

… it’s a thought. Imagine what we could do if we recaptured the resources now sent to Washington ($17-40 billion)? Even the most conservative estimates say that the budget deficet in Sacramento would be halved. Beyond that, I’d say California’s policy priorities would be substantially different - enough so, that we’d be able to more than satisfactorally allocate existing tax funds appropriately. And given our pre-eminent status in the nation’s entertainment, defense industry, agriculture, and technology, we’d probably have a net gain even beyond that … the Pentagon, for example, can’t simply abandon all contracts with California based defense industry companies, or divisions thereof.
