Dear Ms. Tarnofsky-Ostroff,
According to Fireflyfans.net, your network is considering picking up “Firefly”, the science fiction show put together by Joss Whedon.
Simply put, I would very much like to see this show continued - I’m a thirty year old male, a technical professional who makes between $80 and $120,000 a year; seemingly your ideal demographic. I’m a dedicated science fiction fan, and have been sorely disappointed by the track record of support for the genre on television; please help break this depressing pattern and give “Firefly” a chance to develop an audience.
The first time I saw Firefly (”The Train Job”), I was immediately captivated… I dropped what I was doing and watched the episode till it was finished. My immediate reaction was, “Wow. Science fiction with a brain - and a heart.” Only tonight, I decided to go out and find out more information about the “Blue Hands” guys… and discovered the sad news that Fox had lost faith… in the process, discovering a wealth of fansites (demonstrating that the show has a strong following). Right now, I’m signing up to join a Yahoo Group devoted to Kaylee, the female mechanic.
Please, please, please give this show a chance. The creators, the cast, the fans - they all believe in it. Give it a decent time slot and reasonable promotion, and the opportunity to develop an audience, and you’ll be rewarded with another decade long hit.
Regards,
Thomas Leavitt
