School days…
Went to visit the girls at school today… Lynnaea’s class was playing some kind of tag game. I couldn’t quite figure out what the rules were, but the kids seemed to be having a blast. Their gym teacher said it was inspired by some kind of game he saw while he was in Thailand. Lynessa stayed home, apparently.
I’m constantly impressed by the universally high quality of the teachers and staff at the school. I get good vibes from all of them. People who work with kids on a daily basis are special, they get mad props from me. :)
Asked Lynnaea if she’d managed to make her thirty baskets yet (some kind of P.E. assignment), and she just made a face… she’s short a few inches on the other kids in her class, so it is a bit more difficult for her.
Lynnaea won a jump rope contest today, after volunteering to take on a challenge posed by the P.E. teacher. Not surprising - she’s very athletic. Although unless she has a massive growth spurt, I just don’t see her having much future in basketball. :) Soccer, or gymnastics are logical, though.
She also recently got a classroom award for getting an “A” on a math test. Her talents are well balanced.
Lynessa’s more artistically inclined, I think, although both the girls are totally into crafts. We spoke with her teacher today, Mr. Valles (another person who really impresses me), and set up an appointment to go over her progress in school so far this year.
Gunilla is volunteering to drive for Lynnaea’s field trip to San Juan Batista tommorrow, and then we’ll see the kids again on Friday and again several times next week before we get them back the following Friday, so the split custody isn’t as big an issue as it might otherwise be if the school weren’t just down the street.
