Visited our younger daughter’s teacher on Wednesday afternoon for an impromptu parent/teacher conference. Happened to run into Sue Grasso and several other parents discussing upcoming budget cuts and school closure plans on the way in… she’s concerned, legitimately, that the cost of keeping two schools open could be much greater budget cuts, and that the timing for an initiative would leave things up in the air until way too late.
Spoke with the teacher. Lynessa is in the highest level reading group… fourth grade equivalent. Doesn’t have the attention span (nor do any of her peers) to keep it up for more than about ten minutes without getting all wiggly, but that’s quite impressive. She’s doing well in other areas too. Teacher gave us an overview of the topics being covered over the course of the current year, and suggested that we might want to participate in some upcoming activities (readers theatre, field trip, etc.). I like him, very sincere individual, very homey classroom, its clear he pays close attention to the kids he teaches.
