A weekend with the kids = no blogging. :)
Highlights:
Friday - went through their toys, threw out the broken ones, donated a bunch of the other ones to Goodwill (Lynessa was really into that) — they gave away more than half of the stuff. Not at all materialistic, I guess. Good for them.
Went on a shopping expedition after school, including checking out Radio Shack (watching them play with stuff is a good way to figure out what to buy them later). Had dinner at Royal Taj, which the girls always request when they get here; the four of us and Uncle Andrew (who paid for dinner, bless him). Chicken Ticka Masala (the girls favorite). I had Fish Masala (the girls were like “eww, gross”).
Saturday - The big event of the day was marching to save the schools. The girls were really into it - they love their school. Lynessa was getting everyone in the house to sign the petition she brought home from school. She even went door to door in the neighborhood on Sunday - who can resist a little kid saying “Save my school, please?” :)
We hooked up with Journey (Lynnaea’s friend) and Sarah (J.’s mother) during the march, and the girls wound up first going home with Sarah after the march, then Journey came over and spent the rest of the day, slept over, and much of the following morning and afternoon - her mother was like, “I thought she’d deserted me!” when I dropped J. off at her house on Sunday. :)
Girls watched Princess Diaries and Willow.
Sunday - Big event of the day was a visit to Aunt Hulda’s house, to see cousin Cheri and Keelan (the girls hand delivered his Christmas gift) and say hello to Hulda (also to borrow her truck again for another round of dump runs - lots of yard waste to get rid of). And a “light show” from the girls - waving glowsticks around and singing “Stupid Cupid” (from the Princess Diaries).
Schedule revolves around the girls when they’re here, aside from the occassional activist meetings (Living Wage Coalition and SOBOA this weekend for me).
