Peace
So, we picked up the kids from school at noon (actually, one of ‘em wasn’t feeling well enough to go to school, so she was delivered straight to the house… although she felt well enough to go play out back when she got here). After a bit, we all went downtown to join the 24 hour vigil against the war at home and abroad (against the poor here and Iraq abroad) at Pacific and Cooper. Kids played around on the public artwork for a while, drew some stuff on the peace scroll, then Gunilla took them to see Jungle Book 2, after which we all went home.
Gunilla spent much of yesterday and this morning cooking and preparing stuff for the peace vigil. She made buttons, a sign, cookies, etc. She also make a better “Honk for Peace!” sign than the one they had, once we got there. :)
I spent about half the day at the peace vigil, went to Peace Friday to promote it, came home, took a nap, then got up and spent 11-4 a.m. at the peace vigil along with about twenty other people… students, activists, homeless folk, average citizens who sympathize with us - quite an interesting mix of people. Some good conversations. Damn cold!!! I’ll wear my longjohns and thermal undershirt tommorrow.
Vigil is going well, I think. 17 people there at 3:30 a.m. is great! 30-40 people hanging around earlier in the day.
Good day!
