Fire at City Hall

[I already used up my monthly quota highlighting Mike Rotkin’s attacks on the Green Party, so I have to send it to the other local papers. -Thomas]

Letter to the editor (sent to Good Times and Metro):

The Sentinel’s effort to pin the fire at City Hall on homeless advocates or other activists who disagree with Council policy is disgraceful. In all likelihood, it is the product of teenage stupidity or mental compulsion (”pyromania”) and has nothing to do with the City’s politics. If it has anything to do with politics in the current environment, it is as likely or more likely to be an unthinking and untargeted attack on “government institutions” as a whole (much like the vandalism aimed at the County building by one single individual out of 7,000 during the peace protest)… that is a far more likely explanation for why the state parks division and the city were targeted than disgruntled campers angry about the 30 day annual limit on camping in the state parks (which only the most functional homeless are able to do, given camping fees and transportation issues) and city homeless policies.

Rumor mongering and leading questions are the provence of trashy tabloids like the National Enquirer and Weekly World News, not that of respectable local newspapers - oh wait, I forgot, this is the “Senile” we’re talking about. That explains everything. The “Senile” says we should be outraged: well, I am - and not just at the mindless destruction and disruption of worker’s lives and city operations, as you can tell.
