For political courage let us hail a group of youths who “have an interest in BDSM”, a Girl Scout Gold Award project. The organizers are firmly to the left of the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom since NCSF always making a point of fighting for adults-only sexual freedom. This news comes courtesy of Lavender Magazine of Minneapolis, MN.
Queer Youth Exist was created by two high school students as their Girl Scout Gold Award project, ” an education and safety group for youth under the age of 21 who have an interest in BDSM, fetishism, or any queer or alternative culture.” Queer Youth Exist was started by two high school students, Hedge (a senior) and Katze (a junior). Both are also Girl Scouts (Hedge has been a Girl Scout for 13 years), and this is their Girl Scout Gold Award project. You may not know this, but a Gold Award is the highest honor for a Girl Scout–the equivalent of becoming an Eagle Scout in Boy Scouts. Over to Katze, as quoted in Lavender mag: “We’re trying to make youth be less of a threat to the adult community- we know how to act appropriately.”
Both Hedge and Katze see BDSM and fetish culture is alluring to the younger crowd. “They’re attracted to the young Goth BDSM culture–to the shiny clothes, attractive people, great music, and club nights,” claims Katze. “It’s a fun culture, and people want to be part of it even if they don’t practice BDSM. They want to separate themselves from the Abercrombie and Fitch jock crowd–they want to be with older people who are in their culture scene.” We’ll probably have a presidential candidates forty years down the road, saying that as a kid in the Twin Cities she “experimented with BDSM” and it was first-class training in the art of firm government.”

Not that some members of the St. Croix Valley Girl Scout Council didn’t have to swallow hard when they read Ludeke’s proposal for her Gold Award, a community-service distinction similar to the Boy Scout’s Eagle Scout honor, but even more demanding. Ludeke, then a junior at the Perpich Center for the Arts school, proposed a support group with a safety and self-esteem agenda for at-risk teens in the GLBT community — and particularly those whose knot-tying projects would raise eyebrows at a Camporee.
“You could have made a Candid Camera double feature,'’ Ludeke says about the jaw-dropping discussions that took place between council leaders and a young woman who makes Madonna seem as unworldly as a Brownie. But in the end, the Council decided there was nothing in her proposal that went against the Girl Scout Law, which calls on members to do their best to be “honest and fair . . . courageous and strong . . . to respect myself and others.'’
“It certainly wasn’t the conventional project,'’ admits Andrea Specht, communications director for the Girl Scout Council of St. Croix Valley, a program that serves more than 20,000 girls a year. “But rather than take any stand on sexuality, we choose to focus on the benefits of the project, which were working with alienated youth, trying to help people, and even save lives.'’
“We also make a distinction between supporting the girl, and supporting the cause or the lifestyle,'’ adds Specht. “We support the girl.'’

You read this article, and you realize how utterly evil these folks are… they hate everything, in their minds, it is a bad bad bad thing that
Girl Scouts now can earn the “Ms. Fix-It” badge for learning how to fix a leak, rewire an electrical appliance, or re-caulk a window, and the “Car Care” badge for checking fluids, filling tires to the proper pressure, and performing safety checks.
This is a literal excerpt from this article. The article also complains about the fact that there is now “a ‘Domestic Violence Awareness’ badge” (how horrible). Jesus Christ, these people are just fucked in the head.
But, the last item, really reveals what they’re afraid of:
“There are currently 2.7 million Girl Scouts in the U.S. That’s a lot of liberal feminists to look forward to.”
