Greens continue to make gains…

Where the party has strong, credible candidates, they generate major party results… where the party runs again (here, as in California), election over election, they show strong gains. The consistency of results like this, across the world - in Australia, Canada, Scotland, Ireland, and here at home, give me great confidence in our party’s future, and lend me patience while we build. Ten years from now, I expect the results in Manitoba to be vastly different (as I do in California), and in a very positive way.

11. Canadian Greens Make Gains in Local Elections in Manitoba

Manitoba has 57 ridings. In our first general election in 1999,
The Manitoba Greens contested 6. In 2003 we contested 14.
The average vote in the 14 ridings which we contested was 4.08%.

Of the ridings which we contested in both 1999 and 2003, the Green
Popular vote increased as follows:
Fort Rouge 1.79 to 4.99
Lord Roberts 1.38 to 6.32
River Heights 0.80 to 2.27
Wolseley 4.66 to 19.20

All Green Party of Manitoba candidates placed 4th (after the NDP,
PC And Liberals) except Wolseley, where Green Party leader Markus
Buchart placed 2nd (ahead of the PC and Liberal candidates).
