Art Agnos endorses Matt Gonzalez for Mayor (his speech)
[This is huge. This is how Greens win. By being heads above everyone else. By proving themselves on a local basis in non-partisan races, to establish their credibility elsewhere. -Thomas]

I welcome the opportunity to join this great campaign for the future of San Francisco. I am proud to support and endorse Matt Gonzalez to be mayor of this city that I love and served as the 39th mayor.
Matt and I share a lot in common. Sons of immigrants. Spoke two languages. First to go to college. Came to San Francisco to pursue our dreams. Wear the same size suits.
I know the job, hardest work I ever did. And the answers come from having the brains and courage and trusting the people of this city. The answers don’t come from Democrats or Republicans or Greens.
I am a life long Democrat … and what I found is, in the Mayor’s office with tough decisions, you are often alone, with your character, principles, integrity, humility, ability and vision to guide you.
I believe Matt Gonzalez has those qualities. That’s why I endorsed him when he ran as a Democrat for supervisor, continued to endorse and support him when he became a Green to escape the business as usual politics of the city.
