The behavior described by the ACLU in the press release entitled “Louisiana
School Punishes 7-Year-Old Boy for Talking About His Lesbian Moms”(1) is
utterly despicable, it is a disgrace to the good name of public education!
This action has brought international disrepute and disgrace on our nation

indicate a lack of understanding of the nature of the situation. This
child’s parents are gay, they are two women, and that child should be free

LAFAYETTE, LA - After a 7-year-old boy was scolded in front of his
classmates and sent to a school behavioral clinic for answering another
child’s questions about his lesbian mothers, the American Civil
Liberties Union today demanded that the school expunge the boy’s
disciplinary records and stop restricting him from talking about his
family with other students.

In response to former Malaysian prime minister Mahathir Muhammad’saddress
at the Islamic Summit Conference on October 16, 2003, Bassam Darwish,
editor of the U.S.-based liberal Arabic site http://www.annaqed.com, wrote
an article, titled “A Complex Waiting to be Solved.” [1] The article was a
rebuttal to Mahathir Muhammad’s speech in which he claimed that Jews
control the world and encouraged Muslims to unite to achieve a “final

i think we need an entirely new language of politics… we’re still arguing everything from an 19th century point of reference, it is truly absurd

to me, politics boils down to two paths:

1. the policies pursued by nearly every party on the planet, the status quo that has led to global eco-devastation and threatens all life on this planet

2. those that don’t

it’s life, and anti-life, pure and simple

I blame us, the Green Party, collectively, for failing to get our act together and coalesce around a credible candidate for President. If we had the equivalent of a Peter Camejo, or a Matt Gonzalez, running nationally (and who that would be, I don’t know), I suspect this would have been a more difficult decision for him… but I see no prospect of that. At best, I see the possibility of another Nader campaign, and quite honestly, while I admire and respect him tremendously, his failure to enter the race, or definitively exit it, by this point, angers me greatly. His absence from the campaign field has crippled any hope he would have had of running a credible campaign for the Presidency, his failure to exit has quite possibly forstalled the entry of anyone else of substance.

I also blame the national leadership for failing to provide any real surrogate candidacy. There are strategies we could have been pursuing, media tactics we could have been adopting, that would have made the Green Party’s positions part of the debate, even absent a candidate… we could have picked a “favorite son” or “daughter”, and made them our Presidential surrogate, our spokesperson for the party on all these issues, the person who would sit in our seat at the debate table and be our nationally recognized spokesperson. The lack of such has been a continual frustration over the last year.
