KINSEY APPLAUDS SENATE’S DEFEAT OF “MARRIAGE AMENDMENT”
Fort Collins, CO – Green Party congressional candidate Bob Kinsey,
applauded the U.S. Senate and its defeat of Congresswoman Marilyn
Musgrave and Senator Wayne Allard’s divisive Federal Marriage Amendment.
A challenger of Musgrave’s incumbency, Kinsey stated, “We are elated at
the failure of this dangerous attempt to amend the Constitution to
prevent same-gender couples from marrying. It would have been the very
first time our Constitution was amended to expand discrimination, rather
than reduce it. Even many members of Musgrave’s own party saw through
this divisive attempt to divert attention from the nation’s pressing
problems in Iraq and at home.”
Kinsey, a pastor, further commented, “The U.S. Constitution is not about
dividing us but ensuring our equal rights to life, liberty, and the
pursuit of happiness. I believe that marriage is a loving commitment by
any two human beings deserving all the rights, privileges, and
responsibilities which that commitment brings.”
