MUSGRAVE AND MATSUNAKA REFUSE CANDIDATES’ FORUM: KINSEY ACCEPTS INVITATION
FORT COLLINS, CO - An invitation to participate in a candidates’ forum
was recently rejected by District 4 incumbent Marilyn Musgrave and
Democrat Stan Matsunaka. Green candidate Bob Kinsey was the only
candidate who agreed to participate in the non-partisan organization’s
event. Republican challenger Bob Faust was interested in participating
but unavailable on the date set.
“The citizens of this district deserve to hear where the candidates
stand,” commented Green candidate Bob Kinsey, “It’s a shame that the two
major party candidates are unwilling to participate in something that is
essential to a true democracy.”
Tyler Kinkade, a District 4 constituent commented, “I’m disappointed
that Musgrave and Matsunaka don’t think that voters deserve to make an
informed decision in this race.”
“Since both Musgrave and Matsunaka supported the war in Iraq, I guess
neither wants to answer to their more far-sighted constituents who
pointed out that it was based on lies, illegal, and likely to fail,”
noted Eric Fried, a member of the Poudre Valley Green Party.
The forum was sponsored by the Fort Collins Center for Justice, Peace,
and the Environment; the Fort Collins Interfaith Council; the Greeley
Tribune; the Fort Collins Coloradoan; the Fort Collins Forum; the Rocky
Mountain Bullhorn; and the Fort Collins Weekly. Invitations to
participate in the forum were sent to each campaign on July 1st.
