William Shatner: Not a Has Been.
A few weeks back, someone put up a complete Star Trek and STNG laser disc and movie collection on FreeCycle… we grabbed it… someone else got the Babylon 5 LaserDisc series (but that’s o.k., becasue that person is a B5 fanatic). All 80 episodes of The Original Star Trek, and all 168 episodes of ST:NG. So, we’ve been working through them, an episode or two every night or two - midway through the second season of the original. It’s great. Really enjoying it. Even motivated me to buy a 27″ TV at Goodwill (had been watching it on our 1984 era C1084 Commodore/Amiga Composite Monoaural monitor - really nice, crisp screen, but very small) - got it on sale for half-price (of course the damn thing has some kind of technical problem that causes the picture to cut out randomly, about once every two days… almost couldn’t revive it yesterday).
Can’t believe they’re all ancient or dead by now. Just read an interview by David Gerrod (www.gerrold.com) where he talked about watching these things get filled… kind of cool to now have an inside view on the things, as I’m watching them.
Great article on William Shatner in the Chicago Sun-Times. Also, he’s put together a Science Fiction, Fantasy, Horror DVD club (only $4 bucks a disc, what a deal, and a newsletter from the man himself)!
